Ben Whitehouse Born in London, England, 1962 Education: University of Chicago, Chicago, IL, MFA, 1991 Lives in Chicago, IL Ben Whitehouse’s work in the mediums of painting and video is consumed with perception and the ineffable relationship between the ocular and the ontological. His prolonged observations of the subtle shifts in atmospheric conditions between sky and water throughout the seasons results in evocative meditations on transitions in time as perceived through light. March is a single work composed of thirty one 11 x 14 inch canvasses executed on the shore of Lake Michigan between 9 a.m and 11 a.m. during the month of March 2004. The complete work, exhibited in a sequential grid, transcends the traditional calendar. upcoming exhibitions Part of the City of Chicago’s Festival of Maps opening November 2, 2007.
