Paul Sacaridiz observes the evolving cultural impact of ornamentation and design. He recontextualizes prosaic molded forms to reveal the subliminal meanings embedded in contemporary product design and historical architectural adornment. Sculptures and installations utilize dramatic shifts in scale and repetition to transform familiar domestic icons, such as cake molds, from functional frivolity to utopian structures of ancient origin. The work speaks to a secular spirituality that pervades Western society’s worship of lifestyles driven by market research and consumer desires.
