Sandra Perlow Born in Chicago, IL, 1940 Education: School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL, MFA, 1978 Illinois Institue of Design, Chicago, IL, MA, 1968 School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL, BAE, 1964 Lives in Chicago, IL Painter Sandra Perlow is a skilled iconoclast. Neither indebted to narrative or abstract schools of painting, she sees each genre as raw material to irreverently subvert. She eschews traditional notions of beauty for more idiosyncratic approaches to color, surface, and mark-making. In the process she entangles the viewer in perceptual conundrums and emotional dissonances that pay homage to the works of modernist poets such as T.S. Eliot. upcoming exhibitions
